Have you been on a few dates? Not working out? Perhaps you’re being too picky?Whether you’re willing to admit it or not, we humans are very judgmental when it comes to love – on everything from looks, to the way people eat and even their teeth.
And when it comes to first dates, it can range from horrifying, to mind-numbingly boring, to incredible. While we can forgive and forget an awkward silence or sweaty palm, there are some things we just can’t get over.
For example, people who constantly check their phones, don’t offer to split the bill, ask too many questions, and the ultimate no-no - talking about an ex.
Here are some things to avoid on a first to make sure you don't ruin it all...
1. Talking about you ex. It's boring and awkward and makes you sounds like you are still into him or her.
2. Talking about your 'weird' dreams or nightmares, unless the person you are with made an appearance in your dream. Even then, that's not a good topic on a first date.
3. Being sleezy and letting your eyes wander, and then linger, on your date's assets.
4. Your phone. Keep it in your bag, or pocket. Unless the date is so terrible and you need to escape with the old 'someone really needs my help' trick, constantly checking your phone is distracting and rude.
5. Expectations on intimacy. If it happens it does, if doesn't then who cares? Respect your date and their wishes.
6. Being a showoff, dominating the conversation, or only talking about yourself. That's one way to bore your date, and ensure they won't be interested in another one.
7.Getting Drunk. This is especially bad if you’re the only one drinking. If you’re both on the wine, pace yourself – it’s easy to drink when you’re nervous, but over-doing it will only lead to self-destruction.
