Have you ever had a kiss that was just absolutely awful? When kissing is good it can be incredibly sexy, but when it goes wrong it can totally ruin the moment and be a huge turnoff.
Here are some kissing mistakes that you should avoid so that you don’t make the experience unpleasant for your partner.
1. Bad Breath
Keep tabs on your breath when you are out on a date. It is easy for your breath to turn from freshly brushed to sour pucker after a meal and a few drinks. Keep mints on hand and use them. You can also tackle two birds with one stone by carrying a disposable toothbrush with you. The toothbrush already has toothpaste on it and you can go into a public bathroom, brush your teeth, and throw it out. Now you have fresh breath and clean teeth.
2. Too much saliva
Oh my goodness. When you go in for the kiss, you don’t want to have a mouth full of spit. While you don’t want to have a dry mouth, either, you do want your mouth to be moist. Naturally wet, not sopping wet or dry like the desert. A quick trick to fix this is to take a sip of water first and cleanse out your mouth of excess wet.
3. Something gross in your teeth
Always check your teeth if you think you will be kissing sometime soon, especially after you have eaten a meal or even had just a few snacks. Nothing can spoil the kissing moment more than peering into the face of someone you love and then spotting a bit of spinach in the other person’s teeth.
4. Going way too fast
Kissing is not a race. You don’t just dive right in there and start speed racing your way through the motions. You have got to slow it down a bit. Think of it like a stroll through the park. You aren’t running and you aren’t crawling. It is just a nice, steady action that feels good, sexy, and even soothing.
5. Staring Creepily
What are your eyes doing when you are madly kissing your man? Are they wide open? Do you know how creepy and uncomfortable it is when you see your partner staring at you during a kiss? Open eye kissing is just unnatural so stop it. When your lips meet, your eyes should be completely shut. Kissing is about feelings and emotions. Sight is not a part of the equation. So skip the eyes wide open act and relax into your next kiss.
6. Kicking Off The Gag Reflex
Oh boy. Here is a huge no no when it comes to kissing. While you want to put your tongue in his mouth, you do not want to shove it down his throat. Be careful not to go too deep with the tongue action or you might set off his gag reflex. Nothing will end a kissing session faster than the sudden urge to hurl. Trust me on this one.
7. Not being able to breathe
Have you even gotten yourself locked in a kiss where the other person didn’t want to stop? When kissing, keep it light, passionate, and above all, take little breaks in between the tongue action. Pull away and focus on kissing his neck or nibbling on his earlobe. Then go back in for some more kissing. Keep the action varied so that you both get little moments of rest between tonguing and exploring.
8. Chapped lips
Even before you think of kissing him, check out the condition of your lips. Dry, chapped, and even split lips are a major turn off when it comes to kissing. Moisturize your lips throughout the day. When you get out of the shower, put on an extra layer of shea butter or coconut oil. Before you go to bed, coat your lips again with a heavy lip conditioner. You want your lips to look healthy and kissable.
