Shatta Wale Disqualified From This Year's VGMAs And This Is Why

The Board of the Ghana Music Awards has declared that dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Jnr, popularly known as Shatta Wale will not be nominated for the awards this year. They made the disclosure during a press conference which took place earlier today at the World Trade Centre in Accra

According to organisers of the awards, Shatta Wale doesn’t qualify for this year’s awards unless he completes the process of officially apologising for maligning the VGMA Board.

The board is however said to have stated that the Dancehall artist has submitted an apology letter prior to the event, which gives them a few days to review it and more so react or reply to the camp of the dancehall artist.

They added, they are looking at reviewing it very soon so response corresponding to the issue will soon be released but for now, due to the busy schedule of the board members prior to preparation ahead of this year’s Vodafone Ghana movie Awards, it will be difficult to come to a decision before the announcement of the nominees this Friday.

Charter House had dragged Shatta Wale to court for posting four videos considered defamatory on social media.

Although the Kakai hitmaker had earlier said he did not want to be nominated for the awards this year, he submitted his songs when entries were opened on January 1, 2016.
