Photos And The Reason Only Nigerians Are Present In Mauritius For #Onlythebest Content Showcase

If you have been following the #OnlyTheBest trend on social media, then by now you would know that Mauritius has been swamped with many stars from Nigeria for MultiChoice Africa’s annual content showcase.

At least Ghana’s Stonebwoy represented and performed at the opening Gala on Tuesday night, but apart from him every other star that was acknowledged at the opening Gala was from Nigeria. From the hosts of the ceremony down to the disc jockey, ‘everyone’ was Nigerian (well, minus the ‘cabaret’ performers..hehe).

But with a gathering of media personalities from over 10 African countries, it was only a matter of time to make a case out of the unfortunate situation. At a press conference on Wednesday morning, the issue of showcasing too much Nigerian content on DStv, as well as showcasing of Nigerian stars at the #OnlyTheBest Content Showcase came up for discussion. One thing that was clear from the press conference was that the rest of Africa want to see more of their stars and content on DStv/GOtv.

Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, West Africa Regional Manager of MultiChoice, explained that the stars from the other countries had busy or conflicting schedules and that is why they couldn’t make it to Mauritius. As for the reason why there is more Nigerian content on DStv, the answer still remains that Nigeria produces more content.
