The downside however of low humidity during the dry season is that moisture leaves the hair pretty fast. The fast evaporation of moisture from your hair could cause dryness, and overexposure to the sunlight leads to brittleness. These coupled with the high ultraviolet rays from the sun, leads to huge setback in your hair progress.
To avoid the adverse effect of dry season, here are some few useful tips to follow:
#1. Do not apply oil on your dry hair if you intend to go under the sun: you don’t want to fry your hair!
#2. Water is your number 1 friend so start with water. You want to apply water before a leave-in conditioner and finally oil to seal in the moisture. Start moisturizing from the ends of your hair.
# 3. You need to drink more water in dry season (and at high altitudes); this helps your hair to be hydrated from inside out.
#4. Humectant (e.g glycerin, honey) should be included in your hair regimen. You can mix 1/3 glycerin in water bottle for daily spritz and don’t forget to add honey to your deep conditioner.
#5. Use quality leave-in conditioner that helps your hair retain moisture and breathe.
#6. Do make sure you add sufficient protein (e.g egg, mayo) to your deep conditioner or do protein treatment to strengthen your hair.
#7. Alternate wearing out your hair in curls and protective styling
You may not immediately recognize how damaging the UV rays are to your hair because the damages could be really gradual: the hair cuticles get weaker, develop patches and finally break off leaving the strands damaged. However, with some efforts to avoid setback, you can grow your hair to about 7 cm in 6 months while maintaining the hair you already have, and in the nearest future, you’ll have some long healthy hair to flaunt.
