Rocky Dawumi Makes History As The First Ghanaian To Be Nominated For A Grammy Award

Ghanaian reggae singer and songwriter, Rocky Dawuni has been nominated for this year’s Grammy Awards. The musician who lives in Los Angeles was nominated for the “Best Reggae Album” category with his album title “Branches Of The Same Tree”.
This makes him the first Ghanaian to be nominated for the scheme. He is competing for the “Best Reggae Album” with musicians like Luciano, Barrington Levy, Jah Cure and Morgan Heritage.
Other nominees at this year’s award are Nicki Minaj, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Kanye West, Drake and many other popular musicians across the world.

Kendrick Lamar leads with 11 nominations while Taylor Swift and The Weekend follow behind with 7 nominations each. Taylor Swift is the only artist to have nominations in all three major categories – Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year.
The Grammys will be taking place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 15th.
